CARITAS serves as the first line of community support for anyone in need of emergency shelter. Over 185 participating congregations, of which Fork Church is one, provide shelter, food, and necessities on a weekly basis to individuals and families in need of immediate assistance.  CARITAS fills an alarming gap in the shelter system by reaching segments of the population ineligible for any other program: adults facing addictions, families with fathers, large families, and families with adolescent sons.

CARITAS week in Ashland/Doswell is the week of May 26 - June 2nd.  Fork Church is responsible for the night of Tuesday, May 29th.  We will be looking for volunteers to help prepare food, serve food, clean up and set up for dinner, pack lunches for the following day, transport guests to laundry and showers that night, donate quarters for laundry, prepare breakfast for the following morning, and a male to stay overnight (all the guests will be male).  Please begin thinking about how you would like to participate to make Caritas a success.  If you have questions or want to volunteer, please contact Howard Anderson, Court Warfield or Beth Schubert.
